Distinctive Choices about life. The things we say and do that affect us on our journey in life. Choices that we make or others make for us. This is about a distinctive choice to work online to enhance my retirement with products and services I have gathered over the decades of my life.
Is there a need to make extra money in my retirement? No. If I sold a few things I would be just fine. I am not sure when or how or if I want to sell them yet. So I made the choice to do this. While I hope to monetize this website, it is also meant to be a guide to others on how to live a Life With Intent.
The Early Years
As someone looking back on life now I begin to see how life has followed different paths at different times of my life. However, the one thing that has stood out in my life is the fact that I am the best working as an entrepreneur. A fancy word for people that don’t fit the mold of working for others. This likely comes from being raised by an eternal optimist.
My first entrepreneurial income came at the early age of 6 when I made the choice to drive one of the tractors to the cornfield and pick up the ears of corn by my self. It wasn’t hard work by any means and I was out by myself. Away from the overbearing older siblings, and the annoyance of the younger ones. I was still within the watchful eyes of my parents but was busy doing something constructive, and I got to DRIVE.
I had picked up what I thought was a huge pile of corn. Now what to do with it. I used the old seed corn sheller to take it off the cob. A hand crank process was a lot for my young arms to handle. However, I did end up with a big crock full of shelled corn. My father then took the grain to the coop elevator to sell. Dad gave me the money at the supper table. Right in front of my older brother and sister. IT WAS GREAT. A defining moment when the spark of entrepreneurship was fueled at a very early age.
Today I am starting anew.
God gives this to us. The Ability To Start New Every Morning. This is for me today, for I have found a new way for myself. I have been writing for a little over a year now and had realized that while I was trying to make a difference. It just wasn’t quite happening. I belonged to a large group of bloggers but just wasn’t always happy.
I learned a lot there, but then I listened to a video in a Bible study. This crazy guy with a white beard (Bob Goff) was talking about quitting something every Thursday. By Thursday I knew what I had to quit. I made a distinctive choice to leave the group and start out on my own.

I really have no idea yet where this will lead me. I generally look for the best products that I can find, within a reasonable price range. There are are a few products that I really enjoy. One of these is Wine, another is Chocolate. I have a lot of other ideas and we will have to see what shows up.
Freedom, A Right. As we pass the Summer Solstice this weekend it becomes glaringly obvious to us in the United States that it is time to celebrate the 243rd Anniversary of signing one of the most important documents of our union, The Declaration of Independence.
In The Beginning
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. (From the Declaration of Independence).
Freedom Was Fought For At Home
This was the start of our nation, that all men are equal. Yet, even as it was being written there was slavery. This is the way it was from the beginning of time. And yes, slavery still raises its ugly head in immigrant communities, the sex trades, and child trafficking. While it may be most prevalent in these areas it is more wide spread than thought.
There was also Women’s Suffrage where women were not allowed to vote and the man was the sole authority on everything. There are still religious sect’s that believe this way. However is it right to belittle your spouse or any woman through law? Should there be equal pay, no doubt?
Should race be an issue, no? However, we held the blacks and many other immigrants as slaves or indentured servants for decades before they were finally freed. Even today they are not treated the same. They often raise up and want us to understand. Do they do it in the right way, some do, some try, some do the only thing they know and fight.
Where Are We Today
Because of this, we have organizations that provide help in racial injustice, we have organizations for same-sex marriage, we have organizations to protect our religious freedoms and many more. It has become a business to fight something.
If we had accepted black people as people we would not have had black lives matter, the same with LGBTQ???? we would not have had a gay pride parade they would have just been.
It is oppression and suppression of equal rights that has led this country and others to the point they are at today, Every Psychopath and Narcissist will likely disagree just to disagree but we have brought a lot of this on ourselves.
This is where the laws of physics come into play.
For every force, there is an equal and opposite reaction. However, to overcome any force, that reaction must be larger than the original. Now we have to fight or give. This is where it will get sticky. We have created forces strong enough to prove their rights, therefore they have the strength to challenge the status quo.
What To Do
We are in a place today where population masses are concentrated by our shores, rivers, temperate zones, and major lakes. Smaller populations are growing inland but the number of people living in cities for generations has left the world with people that do not understand where their food comes from. It is not the grocery store. The grocery store does not raise any foodstuffs, it only displays, cuts, cleans, blends, bakes, and cooks a few things for you. There are hundreds of people working in the background in plants scattered across the US and many other countries that prepare our food for us. But one thing is true, All of your food comes from a Farm of some kind.
We have become a society of give me’s. Today most do not know what it means to be independent. I want free health care, and free college education, free childcare, and I don’t want to work. I want my pizza or any other food ready to cook or better yet delivered to me. (Yes you can make it from scratch, the way you want it and it is awesome). I want everything pre-cut so all I have to do is throw it in a pan and mix another jar with it.
Today with Door Dash, Grub Hub, and many more upstarts in the delivery game we can order any food from anywhere almost.
Let’s Change It Up
I live far enough from urban niceties like delivery that we need to be a little independent. Having a pizza delivered may be nice but that made from scratch crust (no, not a mix from a pouch) with made from scratch marinara sauce, (we do use a can of tomato paste) with home raised herbs and a few spices, takes less than 15 minutes. We use frozen pepperoni or whatever meat we decide for the night and frozen cheese of our liking. The whole process takes less than 45 minutes from start to eating. It cost’s much less than delivery if it were available or dine in at a restaurant. (20+ mile round trip). There are a few things that get Delivered to our home but not many.
Be independent. This was just an example. Do something for yourself and those around you. Take advantage of your freedoms but show respect to others as well. It is about you, but not only you.
Freedom Can Not Be Forced
You cannot force freedom, but you may have to fight for it. If you push your agenda on someone else, they will and have the right to push back. This is another example of physics. Whether you are right or wrong you will encounter forces that get in your way. Sometimes just because of other natural things we encounter in life. Greed, led by Narcissism, and Psychopathy.
There is one thing that we enjoy here in the United States and that is our Freedom. If you don’t believe it, take an International Trip, China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, Iraq, Pakistan, or North Korea and Iran if you could. Any of these will be a good example of what we have and need to protect. Let’s not fight at home. Let your neighbors be unless they are trying to take your rights from you, which sadly is happening too much.
Let Freedom Ring
Take it upon yourself to respect the rights of your neighbors by asking them to join you, or at least doing your best not to offend them. Enjoy your summer and Independence Day this year, It is all about BBQ’s. Family get-togethers and fireworks abound. Stay safe and have a blessed year.
